Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to present Alessandro Roma’ solo show SWAMP

Villa Croce Museum of #contemporaryart is pleased to present Alessandro Roma’ solo show SWAMP. #alessandroroma deals with landscape painting, which in his research becomes internal landscape. The creative process starts from the absorption of fragments of nature within the experiences of the reality that are subsequently metabolized and “given back to the world”, raising, as a nal result, a certain surprise. The attitude he has towards the world and its possible representation - also during the realization of a work made through jumps and illuminations - is the same one that Roma wishes to provoke in the visitor: a “visual otation” able to create new and personal meanings of the work on the surface.
The Reverie, a concept he talks about within his statement, let his work open to questioning. Every new work series holds back the traces of a previous research: in an apparent fragmented space, within its magical aura, it’s possible to re ect ourselves, both mentally and physically.
Over the years, his research has found a new creative ux through the experimentation in the three-dimensionality: starting from collage and strati ed painting, Roma is currently working on ceramics.
A favorite medium in Swamp, the vase becomes a transformation paradigm: cuts, incisions, holes and protrusions transform the matter from inorganic to organic.
This transformation is also helped by Roma’s color study and ring techniques, relating the surfaces to swamp and mysterious places.
A mazy archive of signs, images and shapes allows the visitors to venture into a special itinerary reactivating memories, dreams and references not only intended individually but shared, in which nature is both a starting and arrival point.
A special thanks to Manifattura Giuseppe Mazzotti, Albisola and z2o Sara Zanin Gallery, Rome.
