Oikos takes centre stage at the 2017 Venice Biennale of International Contemporary Art in the work of the artist Giorgio Andreotta Calò

The #oikos hallmarks of sensitivity towards art and a feeling for human beings and nature were key elements in the meeting with #giorgioandreottacalo. A basic feature was the choice of colours, to become “his own colours” – a malleable texture that might represent his art and his many-sided personality.

The subject of international news commentators well before it even opened, the Padiglione Italia curated by Cecilia Alemani is already being talked about with its three very successful installations by Roberto Cuoghi, Adelita Husni-Bey and #giorgioandreottacalo.

#oikos texture and colour for architecture has sponsored the installation by #giorgioandreottacalo, where the environmental aspect plays a frontline role in Senza titolo (La fine del mondo) – Untitled (The end of the world).
The intervention created by the artist reaches its height in an exhibition trail that absorbs the senses of those who go through it. An unusual homage to La fine del mondo by the anthropologist Ernesto de Martino, in a mirroring effect between the universe of the underworld and that of the earth.

In a prestigious context such as the Venice Biennale, #oikos colour becomes a leading player, able to transform itself into material for art, as is the case with Calò’s interpretation. This is an expressive material, which arises from an attentive sensitivity to art and nature.

#oikos materials have long presented themselves as a synthesis of top-quality in the great Italian tradition of decoration combined with a steadfast commitment to research and innovation. This synthesis is, basically, the essential characteristic of all “made in Italy” products. #oikos has undertaken the project because it believes in Italian values: in this artistic representation the colours re-evoke the sense of our history and hold the key to viewing the future with confidence.

Colour as a key element for well-being in our surroundings is a cornerstone of the #oikos philosophy, and in the Padiglione Italia it combines sensitivity to human beings and to the environment with care in respecting and promoting the history of our country.
