2023 programme

The Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro inaugurates its full and varied programme of activities for 2023 with the inauguration on 7 March of the second edition of Open Studio, the cycle of exhibitions set up in the rooms of Arnaldo Pomodoro's studio, this time focusing on the artist's work between 1966 and 1970.

Structured as a project for cultural dissemination and sharing with the community of the material heritage, knowledge and skills matured in 25 years of activity, the 2023 programme is structured around the three fundamental pillars of the Fondazione’s mission:

  • the preservation, valorisation and promotion of the work of its founder and of the Fondazione’s heritage, which is the driving force behind the Fondazione’s activities and the basis for the planning and development of its activities in the field of accessibility, which takes the form of open studio exhibitions, initiatives to disseminate the collection through loans and loaned spaces open to the public, and in the ongoing implementation of the Catalogue Raisonné and the Online Archive web portals, which are increasingly becoming a field of training and discovery for new generations, thanks also to the internships and workshops organised in collaboration with universities;
  • its commitment as a cultural promoter and as an observatory for contemporary creativity, expressed in two projects: the Project Rooms in the spaces of via Vigevano 9, entrusted this year to guest curator Chiara Nuzzi, curator and publishing manager of the Fondazione ICA #milano, which seek to create shared moments of dialogue and exchange between the two Milanese foundations; the exhibition of the American artist Candice Lin, winner of the 6th edition of the Arnaldo Pomodoro Prize for Sculpture, which will open during ArtWeek at GAM in Milan, consolidating the Partnership with the City of Milan’s Area Musei Arte Moderna e Contemporanea;
  • the aim is to assure access and use of educational content mediated through workshops and guided tours for all sections of the public, as well as through special projects such as SMARTSCHOOLING_Missione Pietrarubbia, the interactive educational experience for secondary schools realised thanks to the support of Fondazione Cariplo and through a process of planning in collaboration with various professionals.

 In all its activities, the Fondazione is increasingly demonstrating its aptitude for building partnership networks with institutional and corporate entities, sharing values, strategies and objectives.

It is precisely in the name of celebrating this new partnership and the values shared with it that the Fondazione and FENDI have resolved to organise a major exhibition dedicated to Arnaldo Pomodoro to be hosted from May to October 2023 in the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, the Maison's Roman headquarters.
