McCollin Bryan at the ‘Eye of the Collector’ 2023

Eye of the Collector, a boutique London art and #design fair, has reported record visitor figures for its third edition which took place on 17-20 May. Almost 4,000 people attended the fair at Two Temple Place.

In a curated dialogue with the architectural surroundings of this spectacular Neo-Gothic mansion, London-based #design duo #mccollinbryan presented their new pieces: spectacular limited-edition Scagliola Trio, Stria bench, Aurora Screen and Pi Table.

Cube, Funnel and Bean coffee tables from green and white Scagliola Trio were developed to compliment the gothic interior. These minimal geometric forms cast in scagliola are a nod to an era at the end of the 19th century when this fine plaster experienced a new peak in popularity and when Two Temple Place was built.

The Stria Bench, another spectacular scagliola piece inspired by the process of extrusion, comprises three parts that can be arranged to create different sequences.

The Aurora Screen is named after atmospheric phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis, or northern lights. This limited-edition piece brings the beauty of a natural phenomenon into the interior.

The Pi Table is a console table with patinated brass plated base and a highly polished resin surface. The sinuous tabletop texture provides a sharp contrast to the basic geometric form of the base.

McCollin Bryan was established in 1998 by Don McCollin and Maureen Bryan who share a profound love of the creative process. Their approach at #mccollinbryan is driven by a desire to create pieces with are as visually stunning as they are functional.

The Eye of the Collector is a new generation art and #design fair, famous for its boothless format. Prospective collectors have the opportunity to view and acquire extraordinary pieces across the historic rooms of Two Temple Place, one of London’s most stunning properties, as if they were in an imaginary collector’s home.

Founder Nazy Vassegh has teamed up with Christie’s auction house to present a global online platform for the fair. It features curated ‘viewing rooms’, with selected highlights set against the digital backdrop of Two Temple Place. Works offered for sale can be viewed in the online, hosted by Christie’s, after the physical show closes.
