ORG torino - a hub of culture and innovation - celebrates torino art week with two new exhibitions by two leading contemporary female artists

Turin, Oct. 2, 2023 - OGR Torino from November 3, 2023, opens its doors to showcase the innovative and experimental works of two prominent contemporary artists, Sarah Sze and Sara Enrico.

During Torino Art Week 2023, the former industrial tracks of the OGR welcome two projects that delve into new frontiers of artistic expression, aiming to inspire collective growth and enhance the public's ability to interpret and engage with the present.

Metronome by #sarahsze | Binario 1

Running from November 3, 2023, to February 11, 2024, Metronome, marks the debut solo exhibition in an Italian institution by American artist Sarah Sze (Boston, 1969). Curated by Samuele Piazza, Senior Curator at OGR, this exhibition features a new work co-commissioned and co-produced by OGR, Artangel - London, ARoS - Aarhus Art Museum, and with the support of Victoria Miro Gallery.

The installation restores all the complexity of Sze's artistic poetics, developed since the late 1990s, which challenges the static nature of sculpture and mirrors the information explosion defining our contemporary world.

Sze's work seems to navigate and reshape the relentless of contemporary life's visual stimuli, drawing from constellations of objects and the proliferation of images. Sze reworks the mass of visual narratives we store daily, from magazines, television, smartphones, cyberspace, and the tangible world; her practice evokes the generative process of image-making in a world where consumption and production are increasingly interdependent, and where, in a continuum, sculpture gives rise to images and images to sculpture.

Tainted Lovers by #saraenrico | Binario 2

From November 3 through December 10, 2023, Binario 2 will host Tainted Lovers, a solo exhibition by Sara Enrico (Biella, 1979), curated by Samuele Piazza.

Produced with the support of Fondazione Sviluppo e Crescita CRT, which champions a fellowship for a residency program for Piedmontese artists at the American Academy in Rome, this exhibition brings together a series of works crafted through a sophisticated manipulation of materials, including fabric, concrete, and foam rubber. These works are then arranged in an unprecedented installation within the exhibition space.

Enrico's exploration of the surface of objects, structural tensions, and the interplay of diverse elements invites visitors to reconsider their perceptual categories, immersing them in an almost tactile sensory experience.
