Groninger Museum announces artists for 2024 Children’s Biennale

The artists for the second edition of the Children’s Biennale have been chosen. Work by #florentijnhofman, known for his giant rubber ducks, Hedy Tjin, and others will feature in the exhibition, taking place from 9 March 2024 at the #groningermuseum. All the installations on view will tie in with the 2024 theme, A Better Place. The artists will develop the works with children and young #people.

A Better Place
The first Children’s Biennale, in 2021–22, was a smashing success. For this second edition, most of the participating artists will be creating new works. The show will comprise gallery-filling installations visitors can get onto or into, play with, or add to. Inspired by the theme A Better Place, the works will spur visitors to consider what an ideal world might look like.

From #Groningen to Singapore
For the 2024 Children’s Biennale the #groningermuseum has again selected a varied, international group of artists. Along with Hofman and Tjin, Dutch participants include Carolien Adriaansche, Sanne Boekel, Jelle Mastenbroek, Florien Riezebos, Studio Toer and Stefan Venbroek. Studio MAKY will also be bringing their cheerful Badkat and Guppy back to the water in front of the museum. In a summer project, the duo will work with children to give the floating artwork a new look.

Contributions by artists from other regions of the world will also be on display. Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan (the Philippines) and Wang Ruobing (Singapore) will present installations previously exhibited at the Children’s Biennale in Singapore, which inspired the #Groningen version.

The Children’s Biennale will run from 9 March until 3 November 2024 at the #groningermuseum.
