Vittorio Sgarbi captivates the audience at Fabbricapop

An exceptional location, inside the #samo Industries Group production plant in Bonavigo (Verona), played host to the eagerly anticipated talk entitled “La bellezza dell’Arte appassiona l’Abitare” (Living spaces inspired by the beauty of art) by the renowned art critic and historian #vittoriosgarbi. The talk, held on Wednesday 28 September, was part of the exclusive event “Porte aperte... all’Arte” (Open doors... to Art), organised and supported by #samo Industries Group with a view to promoting the local area and culture.

Covering topics sweeping from literature through to music, as well as sculpture and poetry, starting out from the origins and moving right on to present-day examples of creativity, Sgarbi captivated listeners, enthralling them with his reflections on art and culture, which contained some pleasing references to the world of bathrooms, including Maurizio Cattelan’s irreverent “gold toilet” on display at the Guggenheim in New York.

Sgarbi took a look into the subtle, sophisticated parallel with the fascinatingly unusual location of the #samo Industries Group factory, which has taken on the role of a cultural venue with a strong cultural vocation.

“A relationship with a work of art, as indeed with a person, is constructed over time, and is marked by a primordially erotic essence that can never be devoid of physical, visual and tactile contact. We have a fundamental role to play in bringing artworks to life and keeping them alive forever; a work becomes art only when someone observes it. It’s like music: it’s not until the performer picks up the score that the melody takes shape and becomes part of the present” explained #vittoriosgarbi, highlighting the importance of culture as a primary resource for #corporate development.

“Promoting culture and the various forms of art means promoting an economy and an area, and above all, it gives businesses an extra edge” said Mario Mazzoleni, President of the Mazzoleni Foundation. “This talk, with a celebrity of the calibre of #vittoriosgarbi, is an admirable enterprise for a company that recognises the value of art, and the event was held alongside another prestigious undertaking: the Andy Warhol exhibition hosted in the showroom of #samo Industries Group, featuring some twenty original, signed graphic works, ranging from the world-famous images of Marilyn Monroe to the Campbell’s soup tin, as well as a number of portraits, including those of Mao and Queen Margrethe. Also on show is a selection of memorabilia, such as the original pair of Michael Jackson’s shoes, autographed by the artist”.

The events organised by #samo Industries Group - always on the leading edge when it comes to proposing new forms of expression - seek to transmit and to share a #design concept conveyed through its brands #samo and #inda
