Milano Design Week 2019: on wednesday April 10, an evening of music and a light show to inaugurate the Leonardo Horse Project.

The thirteen #design Horses and multimedia exhibition in collaboration with the Anghiari Museum will be unveiled at the Grand Opening.

Milan, March 21, 2019 – To commemorate the five hundredth anniversary since the death of #leonardodavinci, the bronze statue of Leonardo’s Horse on show at the Snai San Siro racecourse will take centre stage in an important development project. The #leonardohorseproject, conceived by Snaitech, curated by Cristina Morozzi and Massimo Temporelli, is celebrating the anniversary by creating reproductions in scale of the statue, customised by internationally acclaimed artists and designers.

On Wednesday, April 10, the thirteen #design Horses will be unveiled at an opening party which will be held around the horse statute at the entrance to the racecourse park, where they will be on display throughout the #MILANODESIGNWEEK 2019 and in the days following.

From 10.30pm onwards, the Grand Opening – by invitation only – will feature internationally acclaimed deejays: the performance by Lele Sacchi will introduce Marcelo Burlon vs International Special Guest back to back. An evening that will break down the boundaries between genres: techno house style and the roots of hip hop will encounter the eclectic style of the creative Argentine artist, inspired by the folk music of his native country, by the contemporary electronic scene and the clubbing beat of the Nineties.

During the evening, Leonardo’s Horse will be the focus of a video-mapping show that will trace its history and the project. The San Siro racecourse thus stakes its claim as an important leg on the Milan city circuit linked to #design and creativity, by transforming into an open-air museum.

The installation at the racecourse will be accompanied by a multimedia exhibition created in partnership with the Museo della Battaglia e di Anghiari, curated by Gabriele Mazzi, director of the Tuscan museum. The anatomic studies of horses, sketches, drawings and mock-ups for wall paintings that Leonardo never produced of the battle of Anghiari will be the starting point of a narrative that touches on several aspects of the personality and artistic growth of Leonardo.

The Grand opening will also be an opportunity to download the #leonardohorseproject AR app and take part in a full-immersion experience of the history of Leonardo’s Horse, featuring interviews with the artists who interpreted the reproductions and an in-depth look at the studies of horses by the Tuscan genius.
