La Galleria de' Foscherari 1962 - 2018

The Project Room of MAMbo – a space which the museum uses mainly for projects relating to some of the most stimulating and innovative cultural episodes in #bologna and the region - is continuing its activity with La Galleria de’ Foscherari 1962 – 2018, an exhibition which retraces the birth and development of a gallery which is a reference point for #contemporaryart in #bologna and beyond.
The Galleria de’ Foscherari, founded by Enzo Torricelli, later joined by Franco Bartoli and Pasquale Ribuffo, in the early 1960s structured its programme of activities right from the start around two closely interlinked currents: the critically consolidated tradition and an interest in experimentation and innovation.
Alongside a packed calendar of exhibitions which developed in these two directions and left their mark on the city’s cultural life, the gallery also engaged in publishing work consisting not only in catalogues and monographs but also a series of essays on specific historical themes curated by Pietro Bonfiglioli, now selected and reprinted in the retrospective Il Notiziario della Galleria de’ Foscherari (1965-1989) volume published on the occasion of an exhibition curated by Vittorio Boarini.
The #mambo exhibition is an acknowledgement, a further contribution to the gallery’s long and varied history and a tribute to Pasquale Ribuffo who died in 2018.
The exhibition combines a wide selection of historical material - photographs, documents, catalogues, posters and invitations - with a selection of work by the artists who left their mark at key moments on the de’ Foscherari gallery’s work: Pierpaolo Calzolari, Mario Ceroli, Pirro Cuniberti, Luciano De Vita, Marcello Jori, Sophie Ko, Luigi Mainolfi, Piero Manai, Eva Marisaldi, Liliana Moro, Claudio Parmiggiani, Concetto Pozzati, Germano Sartelli, Mario Schifano, Vedovamazzei, Gilberto Zorio.
