Participation is open to all photographers with no limitations of any kind. Every photographer can submit as many bodies of works as one likes.

Applicants must apply as individuals — collaborations are not permitted.

To submit the reportage the official form available on www.festivaldellafotografiaetica.it/submit-world-report-award/ must be used.

The fee to be paid to participate in the WRA varies according to the following:

  • 75 Euros for four categories

All fees must be paid through PayPal or credit card.

This payment must be done as a contribution to the activities of the Festival. Submission is considered valid only after receiving payment with proof via e-mail.

Reportages can either be in color or black & white, and will have to form a focused and meaningful story.

The jury’s assessment is based on the photographer’s ability to build a narrative and emotional story through a series of compelling images.

All the material needed to submit a project must be sent in a unique compressed archive in .zip, .rar or .7z format. The text presenting the project must be sent in a .doc or .pdf format and included in the reference field in the form.

The compressed archive in .zip, rar or .7z and the text file in .doc, or .pdf, must be named with the title of the project and a consecutive two digit number. (e.g.amazon_01, amazon_02…).

The maximum dimension for the images and the text cannot exceed 25MB.
Heavier archives or archives in a different format will not be uploaded by the system.

The archive must include:

  • The images in digital format, saved as .jpg with the shortest dimension sized at no more than 1,280 pixels at 72dpi with a compression degree of 10/12 or 90/100. The recommended dimension is max 500 KB per picture. Please note; the image files must be named with the title of the project and a consecutive two digit number (e.g.amazon_01, amazon_02…).
  • A text file in .doc, or .pdf that includes the presentation of the project with a maximum length of 3,000 characters, the title of the project, the place and the period of time in which the project was made. Also to be included are the indications on how to read the project. The document must include captions, with a maximum length of 300 characters for each picture. The captions must be numbered in the same order as the pictures. The captions must also be included in the EXIF or IPTC data for each picture.

The material (text and captions) can be in Italian or English.

To be able to successfully upload your work, the file .zip, .rar or .7z and the text must have a max dimension of 25MB.

If a photographer would like to submit more than one reportage to the same category, it is not possible to submit it using the same form. Separated uploads must be made as well as separate payments.
In order to participate in categories that require a different editing (Master Award and Spot Light Award require 20 to 40 pictures, while Short Story Award requires 5 to 10 pictures), you have to upload a different archive for each editing.

The submission deadline is 23:59 CEST – May 4th, 2020

Please, contact wra@festivaldellafotografiaetica.it for further info or in case of technical problems.

–  DESCRIPTION OF THE MOTHER EARTH CATEGORY

The Mother Earth category focuses on our planet in all its nuances.

A reflection on the environment, on its infinite variety and the fragility of ecosystems that represent its richness, which rest in an ever precarious position between protection and destruction.

We are looking for an in-depth analysis of those problems that threaten our environment both on a local and global scale.
We are looking for solutions, positive stories, the commitment of men and women in civil society throughout all the continents to come to the earth’s defense.

In this space, we are looking to explore the tension between charm and disfigurement, between beauty that enchants and pollution that destroys.

Projects that demonstrate the environmental impact of big megacities, the depopulation of some areas, climate change, impacts of the exploitation of lands, rivers and seas. Stories that talk about new perspectives of sustainability for the future, actions undertaken to defend, giving value to and promoting the environmental heritage and biodiversity.

The equilibrium of Mother Earth is in the hands of our generation.

We are asking photographers to help us create and communicate a planetary vision of this theme.

The images can be taken anywhere in the world, with no time limit as regards the realization of the reportage.

The category is open to all photographers with no limitations of any kind.
