Summer of Know: For Freedoms

Held annually since 2017, Summer of Know is a conversation series dedicated to engaging with current issues as they are filtered through the generative lens of art. Designed to spark cross-disciplinary dialogue and debate, these discussions feature contemporary artists, practitioners, and thought leaders who are at the forefront of the ideas, organizing, and actions most urgently impacting society and culture today.

Presented virtually in 2020, these four sessions of Summer of Know are co-curated by For Freedoms, a platform founded by artists Hank Willis Thomas, Eric Gottesman, and Michelle Woo to foster creative civic engagement, discourse, and direct action. Since its founding, For Freedoms’ exhibitions, installations, and public programs have used art to deepen public discussion on civic issues and core values, and to advocate for equality, dialogue, and civic participation.

All programs will be broadcast on the Guggenheim’s YouTube channel.

Summer of Know is supported in part by the Elaine Terner Cooper Education Fund Conversations with Contemporary Artists series.
