Touchless Design Open-Source Software Now Available. Zero-Touch Software and a Hardware Add-On for Digital Exhibits

Ideum is pleased to announce that Touchless Design SDK Version 1.0 is now available on GitHub. This release comes earlier than we first imagined, as we began development of the application in April and received funding from Intel as part of their Pandemic Response Technology Initiative in May.

Touchless Design software allows developers and museums to create touchless interactive exhibits. The software is open-source and released under the GNU LGPL version 3.0 license. Please see our full software license for more details. The software uses a mouse-emulation layer coupled with a color-coded system of icons. The current release requires the Leap Motion Controller. Future versions of the software will support the Intel RealSense D235 Depth Camera.

For those interested, there is also a hardware add-on that provides additional onboarding and user feedback. Our integrated touchless hardware add-on, which is designed to work with our Drafting Touch Table, is now available for purchase.

As we mentioned in our press release last month, we are continuing to work on a new proof-of-concept interactive with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. that will use the full touchless system. We will also have additional information about new touchless installations to share soon. You can learn more about our work on the Touchless.Design website, and you can also read our guest post, Zeroing in on Zero-Touch Interaction, on the ExhibiTricks blog.
