The online programme of the 2021 #verbierartsummit featured three new talks and six international debates. The Verbier Debate was moderated by the Summit's Academic Director Jean-Paul Felley who invited the new Swiss speakers Claudia Comte (contemporary Swiss artist), Tom Battin (Professor of Environmental Sciences at EPFL), Madeleine Schuppli (head of Visual Arts at the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia) and Hedy Graber (head of the Cultural and Social Directorate at the Federation of Migros Cooperatives). 

PRACTICAL TIPS AND SOLUTIONS FOR CHALLENGES IN THE PERFORMING ARTS

M2act supports co-creative projects that contribute to sustainable practices, a funding and network project of the Migros Culture Percentage for the performing arts. M2act also provides an open-access digital toolbox offering tips and solutions developed through the co-creative projects to meet new and old challenges within the field of performing arts.

FOLLOW THE SCIENTIFIC EXPEDITION SAMPLING STREAMS OF THE WORLD'S BIGGEST GLACIERS

Scientists from the SBER (Stream Biofilm and Ecosystem Research Laboratory) Laboratory at EPFL have been travelling the globe collecting and analysing samples from streams fed by the world's biggest glaciers. The team have now collected samples from over 100 glacier-fed streams to analyse bacteria and microbes' survival strategies in cold environments.

INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERS UNHCR AND SDC DISCUSS CLIMATE CHANGE AT THE 2020 SUMMIT

At the 2020 #verbierartsummit, Cristina Davies, of UNHCR (the United Nations Refugee Agency) and Daniel Maselli, of SDC (the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) discuss how climate change, food and water crises as well as migration increasingly affect the development prospects of low income countries.

CLAUDIA COMTE DISCUSSES HER ECOLOGICAL ARTISTIC PRACTICES AT THE 2021 SUMMIT

At the 2021 #verbierartsummit, artist #claudiacomte discusses personal reflections on her sculptural processes using sustainably sourced wood and also marble, linking to her wider interests in forest ecology and biodiversity, which she evokes through play, connection and touch.
