Retrospective Exhibition Julio Larraz: The Kingdom We Carry Inside to open at the Coral Gables Museum on December 1st, 2021.

Coral Gables, FL, October 11th, 2021 - The #coralgablesmuseum and the #juliolarraz Foundation are pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition, #juliolarraz: The Kingdom We Carry Inside.
Taking over the main three temporary galleries of the #coralgablesmuseum, the show is the first museum retrospective of the artist in the United States and will be on view from December 1st, 2021 to April 30th, 2022.
Artist #juliolarraz (b. Havana, Cuba, 1944) is one of the most influential figures in Latin American art today. Throughout a career of six decades, institutional recognition has gone hand in hand with the admiration and following of colleagues and many younger painters from all over the world that praise his mastery of technique, color and light, and the poetry and subtlety of his work.
“A major recognition of Larraz’s work was long overdue, and we are very honored and excited to be working with the artist and with the #juliolarraz Foundation in this retrospective exhibition,” says the Museum’s Executive Director John Allen.
“We are thrilled to produce this museum retrospective of Julio’s work with the #coralgablesmuseum. The curator, Yuneikys Villalonga,
had a vision to bring works from the 1960’s – 2020, in every medium, to the public eye. “People and Places” she said, and we were hooked.
The #juliolarraz Foundation’s intent from inception has been to introduce the public to the wonderful world that Julio lives in, and to
bring his life’s work to the forefront. We are all tremendously proud and honored to be a part of this production, and excited to present a
new publication from Rizzoli that parallels the museum exhibition…” says Ariel Larraz, the Executive Director of the #juliolarraz Foundation.
