Artcurial Morocco is delighted to announce the 5th edition of the auction Un Hiver Marocain, to be held at #lamamounia, #marrakech. An unmissable event for art lovers. Majorelle & his Contemporaries will present work by artists such as Dinet, Ackein, Boutet de Monvel and Roubtzoff.

The Modern & #contemporaryart section will feature artists that marked the 20th century, in Morocco and beyond, including #chaibia, #melehi, #gharbaoui and El Glaoui alongside Chagall, #picasso, #matisse and Miró.

Finally Contemporary African Art will showcase work by established modern artists as well as those from the contemporary scene.  Currently on show in the Musée Mohammed VI in Rabat, photographs by #malicksidibe and #seydoukeita will be on offer in the sale. For the first time, a preview exhibition featuring a selection of this work will be held at the Galerie Venise Cadre, in Casablanca, from 15 to 17 December 2021.

Viewing at #lamamounia in #marrakech will take place from 26 to 30 December, the day of the sale.

The auction will feature some exceptional pieces of international modern art. The star of the sale will be the oil on canvas by #marcchagall, Les amoureux au carré vert, which is offered with an estimate of 1 300 000 - 1 600 000 €/ 13 200 000-16 500 000 MAD. The artist described colour as « a ray of freedom, the source and foundation of art ». This piece, painted in colours that shimmer, has been consigned to #artcurial Maroc by an American collector who originates from Morocco.
The ink drawing on paper, L’Odalisque étendue  by Henri #matisse is estimated at 150 000 – 200 000 € /1 700 000 – 2 200 000 MAD. « The odalisques, I saw them in Morocco, allowing me to paint them now for real... » Henri #matisse.
A watercolour, gouache and ink on paper by Joan Miró will be offered with an estimate of 110 000 – 140 000 € / 1 200 000 - 1 500 000 MAD.
A large pen and ink on paper, (50,70 x 65,80 cm) by Pablo #picasso, Chevalier et picador dans l’arène, with an estimate of 200 000 – 300 000 € / 2 200 000 - 3 300 000 MAD, is another highlight of this sale.
