Entitled “The Invisibles”, the 52nd Giffoni Children’s Film Festival – the #1 such event in the world – runs from July 21st to 30th at the Multimedia Valley in Giffoni Valle Piana (Salerno, Italy). It is co-financed by the Italian Ministry of Culture.

Dedicated to the Invisibles, young people whose needs and ideas remain unheard, this year’s Giffoni Film Festival returns to the full numbers seen throughout its history. Five thousand “Giffoners” from 35 nations will have the opportunity to evaluate the 118 works in the official selection, including animated films, series, shorts, and documentaries on themes such as the transition to adulthood, the discovery of the other, and the path to recovering self-confidence. New this year is a focus on the future of our planet, centered on the environment and the climate crisis in the context of the Giffoni Innovation Hub.

The Festival, with its Giffoni Innovation Hub, styles itself as an interface between the young people of Generation Z, companies, and institutions, offering all the tools they need to face one of the great challenges of the future: to change their habits and help mitigate climate change.

Nine days of face-to-face meetings and live streaming will offer young people the opportunity to discuss the theme of sustainability and all its facets: economic, social, and environmental.

Stellantis is participating in the event through DS Automobiles, represented by Simona Magnarelli (Lifestyle, Digital & Premium Brands PR Manager), and through the e-Mobility Business Unit, represented by Gabriele Catacchio (Head of Global e-Mobility Communications), to illustrate its electrification strategy to young people during a special Masterclass due to take place on July 28th. Throughout the Festival, there will also be exhibition and test drive areas, where visitors can try out the DS electrified models and find out more about the charging services on offer.

The Giffoni Film Festival styles itself as an engine of change for the development of new vocabularies and will be acting as the headquarters of a movement focused on innovation. To do so, in 2015 the Giffoni Innovation Hub was created, an innovative and creative hub that last April organized the meeting “Gen Z, keyword Sustainability” in partnership with the e-Mobility Business Unit during the first edition of Verde Giffoni.

Stellantis e-Mobility participation in the Giffoni Film Festival adds an important piece to the mosaic of its work to educate the new generations on the issues of electrification, a key strategy to help achieve the Carbon Neutrality target for 2038, as announced by the Group CEO Carlos Tavares at the presentation of the long-term strategic plan, Dare Forward 2030.

The goals at Stellantis e-Mobility include promoting a culture related to electric mobility among young people and gathering ideas on how the new generations experience mobility and expect to in the future. In only two years, this field of its work has involved over 13,000 students in Europe and has given rise to major partnerships with prestigious institutions and international partners.

The Stellantis strategic plan envisages sales in Europe of electric vehicles alone by 2030 and the elimination of emissions by 2038. For this to happen, a vital contribution needs to be made by the new generations, which are already instilled with an awareness of the requirements for the energy transition and of the application of circular economy models.

DS Automobiles, an innovative and avant-garde brand that skillfully blends an elegant style with the most sophisticated technology, is the perfect fit for this context. Since its launch in 2014, the brand has placed electrification at the heart of its strategy, so much so that it has unveiled a complete electrified range in only 5 years. In 2020, it was also the multi-energy brand with the lowest CO2 emissions in Europe. That record was repeated in 2021: an emissions level of 97.3 g/km (WLTP cycle) puts DS Automobiles ahead of the 30 best-selling car brands in Europe.

The DS range currently consists of four cars: DS 3 CROSSBACK, DS 4, New DS 7 and DS 9, all also available in electric or plug-in hybrid versions with the E-TENSE insignia. From 2024, all new models from the brand will be 100% electric.

At the 52nd Giffoni Film Festival, VIP guests will be hosted on board the DS 9 E-TENSE, an elegant, vibrant sedan equipped with plug-in hybrid technology, while young drivers and their families will have the option to test drive two DS 4 E-TENSE models.

At the Masterclass on July 28th, the first premium manufacturer to compete in Formula E will share with the “Giffoners” its successes in the 100% electric championship, which have helped to support research and development towards a more sustainable mobility.

The e-Mobility Business Unit and DS Automobiles firmly believe in the practicality of events like the Giffoni Film Festival, to revolutionize people’s approaches and to subvert perspectives, focusing solely on young people and their identities, needs and dreams. This is a great terrain of opportunity for the Stellantis e-Mobility Business Unit, styled as a forum for meetings and exchanges between the stakeholders in the ongoing transition, and as a catalyst for positive energy. For DS Automobiles, it serves as a way to show young people how such a new brand has managed in only a few years to become one of the main players in a field as complex as electric mobility, demonstrating that it is innovative spirit that counts, not age.
