The Show Must Go On at the Groninger Museum

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

The Groninger Museum unveils The Show Must Go On, a surprising voyage of discovery through paintings, graphic works and photographs from its own collection. Old and new works of art are combined in playful ways in this exhibition, which celebrates the museum's reopening after coronavirus restrictions.

The Show Must Go On mixes and matches pieces from the Groninger Museum's collection to reveal them in a whole new light. Baroque portraits of Groningen's 18th-century Sichterman family rub shoulders with Inez van Lamsweerde's contemporary fashion portraits. Prints by #hnwerkman hang alongside Andy Warhol's 1980s New York drag queens. A 17th-century still life and a romantic landscape by Barend
Cornelis Koekkoek accompany notable works by contemporary artists such as Jeff Koons, Andres Serrano and Erwin Olaf. And fans of the #groningen artists' society #deploeg can enjoy the painters' expressionist early 20th--century landscapes in striking juxtaposition with their 19th-centurypredecessors.

The Show Must Go On will remain on view until 3 October 2021.
