Announcement 2022 Verbier Art Summit, 7 September 2021

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

The aim of the non-profit #verbierartsummit is to empower the art ecosystem to be a positive social change facilitator. From 28 January to 12 February 2022, the #verbierartsummit will celebrate its sixth edition continuing around the important theme: RESOURCE HUNGRY. The planetary experience of the COVID-19 pandemic has propelled a re-thinking of values and behaviours at an individual, institutional and societal level. As nations closed borders, we realised more than ever that all humans are globally connected, and that we share a collective responsibility when it comes to our resources.

We refocused on the importance of health for people, non-human agents and our planet as a whole, and urgent issues such as inequity, racial injustice and decolonisation came to the foreground. Art and culture have a fundamental role to play in reimagining our communities after the pandemic, providing inspiration on ethics of care and empathy towards our planet and one another. At the 2022 Summit, thought leaders will be connected to key figures in the art world to further deepen the RESOURCE HUNGRY discussion and debate in small groups: How can local actions lead to global impact?

The 2022 #verbierartsummit will kick-off on 28—29 January with an in-person event in Verbier, Switzerland, presenting an innovative talks programme. Over the two weeks following, the discussion started in Verbier will be continued, expanded and reflected on through various activities and workshops. The 2022 Summit will culminate in a virtual event on 11—12 February, featuring the newly generated content on a multi-media platform, presenting talks, debates, live Q&As, as well as art and ecological inspiration. The hybrid  format reflects the Summit’s ambition to engage communities globally, whilst also providing the space and time to connect and generate innovative ideas that can drive change in our wider society.

About the Verbier Art Summit
The #verbierartsummit is an international platform for discourse in a non-transactional context, which opens all its events to the public for free. The Summit talks are held in English and will be translated live into French. To ensure a safe environment, the events are organised in accordance with COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The Summit speakers and invited members also participate in an extended debate programme that annually creates new visions and initiatives that drive social change. The content of each Summit remains available on the website and is documented in an annual publication designed by Irma Boom and published by Koenig Books, London.
