The Winter 2021 issue of Gagosian Quarterly is now available, featuring Jasper Johns’s Target with Four Faces (1955) on its cover.

In this issue Alison McDonald speaks with Carlos Basualdo and Scott Rothkopf about the unprecedented retrospective Jasper Johns: Mind/Mirror; Emma Cline introduces her new publication project, “Picture Books,” with a conversation between author Ottessa Moshfegh and artist Issy Wood; Pepe Karmel celebrates the release of Sir John Richardson’s magisterial fourth volume of his Picasso biography; and Carlos Valladares reports on this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

For the final installment of our year-long collaboration with PEN America, we publish Mathapelo Mofokeng’s “Out of the Darkness.” In a special section, Antwaun Sargent brings together conversations, images, poetry, and prose from artists and writers across geography and generation to discuss the relationship between space and artistic production.
