 'PALMI RA.
Fatto come piace a noi italiani': a new mural on the Municipal Market of Iglesias

Press release available only in Italian

It was in 1950 that a famous artist did not make a work in the city of Iglesias. At the time, Sassu, (born in Milan but of Sardinian origins), he painted a mural on the theme of the mine (formerly Iglesias was one of the largest centers in Europe for the extraction of minerals). An important job but in late on the events in those years were recognized in the Art Informal.
Today is the turn of Flavio Favelli (Florence, 1967), which for some time, continuing the search is seated in the languages most current contemporary art.
Invited as visiting professor to hold a workshop at the School of Contemporary Art, Favelli has thoughtfully provided, together with the students of the Summer Program, a permanent work on a public wall of the city.
The artist chose the large outer wall of the Municipal Market of Iglesias (building made several years ago by Ettore Sottsass), on the side of Via Oristano, finding favor and desires of the consortium that manages the property, interested in the project and hoping to succeed to retrain, through the language of contemporary art, a place that suffers not only the fierce competition from other shopping centers as well as the unstoppable urban decay.
